Contact lenses

A contact lens fitting, in steps

A fitting follows your eye exam. Plan for a second visit if you are new to contact lenses.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Measure

We measure the surface of your eye and check that your eyes are healthy enough for contact lenses.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Try

You try a pair of trial lenses. We check how they sit and how they feel.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Learn

If lenses are new to you, we teach you to put them in, take them out and care for them.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Follow up

We see you again to check the fit and your comfort, then write the prescription.

A contact lens case, a bottle of solution and tweezers lie on a pale blue surface.

Your contact lens prescription is yours

Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere. We do not ask you to buy from us, and we do not charge to release a prescription.

That is true for contact lenses as well as glasses. Ask for a copy at the end of your fitting.

About contact lenses

Can I wear contacts with my condition?

The doctor decides after your exam. We explain what we found and what it means for lenses.

What is billed separately?

A fitting is usually billed apart from your eye exam, and the lenses themselves are billed on their own. How fees work explains each part.
