Step 2: Sharpness and prescription
How well you see, and the lenses that help you see clearly.
- 03
Step 3: Eye health
A look at the front and back of your eyes, and your eye pressure.
- 04
Step 4: What we found
The doctor explains the results, answers your questions and gives you a copy of your prescription.

Billing, what to bring, how often
How it is billed
A routine exam goes to your vision plan. A visit about an eye problem or a follow-up goes to medical insurance. How fees work explains the difference.
How fees workWhat to bring
Your current glasses or contact lenses, your insurance cards and a list of what you take.
How often
The doctor tells you after your exam. Many adults come every year or two, and the doctor may ask you to come more often.
About eye exams
Is this the same as an evaluation?
No. A comprehensive eye exam checks the health of your eyes and your prescription. A neuro-optometry evaluation adds testing of focusing, eye teaming and tracking.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting.
